Following Shoyeido on Facebook pays off! I won this calendar and it is a joy to behold! I've given them as gifts before but prior to now never owned one myself. It's the perfect gift for the 'has everything' person on your list and/or a wonderful gift for oneself! The substantial weight of the paper is a palpable testament to the quality, with gold leaf accents and bright red chop imprints. The calligraphy paintings are so real that they appear to be original! As a novice calligrapher I really appreciate the grand beauty of the paintings and the mastery of the artists. I also appreciate the included page of translations for each month.
