Fragrant Plum - Ume-gaka

I did not know what to expect & I have to say; I am in love! The gentle sweetness of the apricot and honey really lifts up the other spices. It does transport the mind to another place &/or time. I love to fall asleep with this one in my portable wood chip burner.

Thank you, Shoyeido, for keeping the ancient incense traditions alive. It is so amazing to burn kneaded incense, a style that goes back at least 1,000 years, as evidenced by its inclusion in the 11th century novel, "The Tale of Genji." Made by blending plum pulp with powdered woods and spices into an aromatic dough that is then aged, this is an entirely different experience. Since it is heated, not burned, there is a freshness to this incense that is just amazing. It smells ancient and it is, transporting one in time. A true indulgence for the incense connoisseur.

I absolutely love nerikoh and while I have not tried Age of Pine or Brillian Cloud yet, I cannot be more thrilled with Plum. I burn mine in an electric incense heater and it gives off wisps of delectable scent for hours.
